Neil Superior and Big E Sleeze, Not Gone Nor Forgotten...

I first met Neil Caricofe in 1987 in Allentown, PA. At that time, we were both working out at the same weightlighting gym. Neil was in training to become a professional wrestler along with his then future tag team partner Doug Stahl (who later went on to become the ECW tag team champion known as Super Destroyer). I still had my government job with great pay and benefits, but I wanted that same feeling of being involved in something fun like Neil and Doug were doing. It was Neil that actually made me decide to finally give professional wrestling a try. After I did that, it was Neil and Dick Caricofe's NWL that got me started as "John Rambo" (with full battle dress fatigues, boots, flak jacket, the works) and gave me that first push to stardom!

Neil "The Power" Superior, AKA Neil Caricofe, loved professional wrestling and he loved the fans. After graduating from Afa's Wild Samoan Pro Wrestling School in Whitehall, PA, Neil went on to help his father establish the All Star Wrestling League in 1988, which went on to become the National Wrestling League in 1989. Neil "The Power" Superior became a very popular name in the independent wrestling circuit and his hard work and dedication to his fans always kept him on top as a main attraction wrestling for many independent wrestling events.

In 1992, Neil decided to open the "Neil Superior Pro Wrestling School" (SPWTC) in Hagerstown, MD, which is now known worldwide as the SPWTC/HOUSE of PAIN. Many students such as Spazman Brian Anthony, Slickyboy, and Professor Egon Ecton got their start in professional wrestling under the tutelage of Neil Superior, but none stood out like Jeremy Sumpter, AKA Big E Sleeze. When I arrived back from Portland, OR in 1997 to take over the helm at the SPWTC, I spotted a "diamond in the rough" in Big E Sleeze. Big E Sleeze represented everything Neil was looking for in a graduate of a pro wrestling school. Big E had the determination, motivation, athletic ability, the right attitude, and most importantly a huge amount of respect for everyone.

Neil "The Power" Superior tragically passed away in the summer of 1996 and he left behind a very heartbroken student who worshiped the ground Neil walked on. Many lives were touched and effected by this sad event, and all of us took on different ways of dealing with what God handed us in this situation. This isn't an issue of what is right, or what went wrong, or who was at fault, or whatever other negative aspect we can look at this with. Neil Superior and Big E Sleeze lived life to the fullest and they loved having professional wrestling as a part of their lives. What the two of these fine professionals would have accomplished over the years is now reflected in the success of the NWL and HoPWF.

In 1997 I dedicated my career and work to the NWL and to Neil Superior's wrestling school. In the two and a half years that I have been running the school and booking for the NWL, the quality and the content of each and every show is second to none on the market. This isn't due to my work, but rather Neil Caricofe and Jeremy Sumpter constantly filling my head with ideas that make us a success. Does this mean I hear voices talking to me? Well, I've been experiencing that since childhood, so they could be anyone. No, what I mean is that all I have to do is think of either of these two men and ideas pop into my head. Call it what you want, but I call it their assistance.

Neil and Big E aren't gone from us and this is why I am writing this article. I want the world to know that on Tuesday, November 23, 1999, Dick Caricofe and John Rambo are going to give the fans one heck of a "free admission," first annual "Neil Superior/Big E Sleeze Memorial" show at the Superior Pro Wrestling Training Center/HOUSE of PAIN in Hagerstown, MD. Headshrinker Samu, Gillberg, Doink the Clown, "John Rambo," and much more are scheduled for this event. And when it's all said and done, I know Neil and Big E will have my head full of all sorts of ideas for next year's memorial event! Thank you very much for taking the time to read this special "Real Deal," but more importantly for keeping Neil Caricofe and Jeremy Sumpter alive forever! God bless you all!
