Oh, the Ranks are
Coming...
The "Real Deal" by NWL Booker/Instructor/HoPWF President/Booker John Rambo
Hello and welcome to my latest edition of the
"Real Deal!" In this article, I want to touch upon something that bothers many
workers in the professional wrestling industry. "Top" listings in a
"work" are not always what they are labeled to be, but to the uneducated
professional wrestling fan, these lists can be very misleading. In any entertainment
field, there are so many ways of placing high in "Top" listings which have
absolutely nothing to do with pure talent and ability. To compile a decent "Top"
list has to be a very difficult procedure, and I give due respect to those who actually
put an honest effort into their work. Now it's my turn to put an honest effort into
ranking the "independent" wrestlers listed on the NWL roster. Wrestlers who have
competed above the independent wrestling level, and uncertified trainees, are not included
in the following list. With all that behind us now, here is the official NWL 2000 Top
Independent Wrestler Rankings:
1. Gutterboy, 6'-2", 238 lbs, Years Pro: 8 - The best all around
wrestler naturally gets the #1 spot on this list! Gutterboy is in his 6th year as a pro,
and in that time he has faced many big name stars in the ring. Gutterboy's biggest matches
have been a tag team match against the Headbangers, a hardcore match with Headshrinker
Samu, and an NWL Heavyweight "Pinfalls Anywhere" Title match against John Rambo.
Gutterboy is skilled and gifted enough to step in the ring and hold his own with any
professional wrestler in the world. Gutterboy is the current HoPWF Heavyweight champion
and he is also a former HoPWF Tag Team, NWL Heavyweight and NWL Tag Team champion.

2. Aidiean, 5'-10", 235 lbs, Years Pro: 2 - Aidiean is the best all
around athlete in the NWL. The winner of 3 consecutive NWL/HoPWF "Iron Man"
Decathlons, Aidiean proves how helpful an athletic background can be when it comes to
being an excellent professional wrestler. Aidiean's biggest matches were against the Rock
& Roll Express, and he is another NWL wrestler who is capable of entertaining a crowd
anywhere in the world! There is no doubt Aidiean can compete in the ring with any wrestler
in the business. Aidiean is a current NWL Tag Team champion and he is a former HoPWF
Heavyweight and HoPWF Tag Team champion.

3. Jon Rocker, 6'-2", 236 lbs, Years Pro: 8 - Jon Rocker is probably
the "toughest" wrestler in the younger group of NWL stars. Rocker is a mix of
Gutterboy and Aidiean, with a touch of attitude added to the formula! Jon Rocker can step
in the ring with any wrestler, and I am positive they will be impressed with his skills
and ability. Rocker's most popular opponents have been the Headbangers and Headshrinker
Samu. Soon the Bushwhackers will be added to Rocker's resume. Jon Rocker is a former NWL
Tag Team, HoPWF Heavyweight and HoPWF Tag Team champion.

4. Spazman Brian Anthony, 6'-0", 243 lbs, Years Pro: 9 - Spazman
Brian Anthony is a good, solid professional wrestler who will always come through with the
proper skills, technique, psychology and ring presence. Spazman Brian Anthony's ability in
the ring is as good as any wrestler on the independent circuit, and I would be comfortable
booking him against any big name wrestler. Spazman Brian Anthony's biggest matches have
been against George the Animal Steele and Headshrinker Samu. Spazman is a former HoPWF
Heavyweight and HoPWF Tag Team champion.

5. Morgus the Maniac, 6'-2", 240 lbs, Years Pro: 16 - Morgus the
Maniac has been hitting the independent wrestling circuit for many years, wrestling
against just about every big name star you have seen on your TV. Morgus labels his
toughest opponents as Big Van Vader and NWL Heavyweight champion John Rambo. Morgus the
Maniac has held many various independent wrestling league titles and he is also a former
NWL Tag Team, HoPWF Heavyweight, and HoPWF Tag Team champion.

6. John Balsamo, 5'-8", 189 lbs, Years Pro: 3 - John Balsamo is one
of the best all around cruiserweight wrestlers I have seen in the business. A graduate
from the Wild Samoan Pro Wrestling School, Balsamo brings to the ring a very impressive
amateur wrestling background. John's biggest matches have been against the Rock & Roll
Express and the Hippie Extreme Team (Headshrinker Samu and John Rambo). John Balsamo is
the current NWL Cruiserweight champion and he is also a former NJ State amateur wrestling
champion and HoPWF Cruiserweight champion.

7. Flex Fenom, 5'-9", 218 lbs, Years Pro: 1 - Flex Fenom brings the
"muscle" to the ring when the bell rings! Fenom sports the best physique in the
NWL, which he should being a former natural bodybuilding champion. Flex is another gifted
athlete with an impressive amateur wrestling background and he also has a good start on
his resume for being just a 1 year pro. Flex's biggest matches have been against the Rock
& Roll Express and the Hippie Extreme Team. Flex Fenom is a current NWL Tag Team
champion and a former NWL Cruiserweight champion.

8. Fumar, 5'-10", 187 lbs, Years Pro: 4 - Fumar is another excellent
cruiserweight wrestler. If you like the Lucha Libre and high-flying styles, Fumar will
definitely entertain you every match. Fumar has gained a lot of experience over the last
couple years and he is ready to compete against any cruiserweight in the business. Fumar
is a former NWL Cruiserweight and HoPWF Cruiserweight champion.

9. Hyjinx, 5'-10", 204 lbs, Years Pro: 3 - Hyjinx is a product of
the Jimmy "Boogie Woogie Man" Valiant's Pro Wrestling School. Hyjinx has
potential to climb up the rankings with a little more experience. As for personality in
the ring, Hyjinx is second to none. Showmanship is a strong asset in professional
wrestling, and Hyjinx takes very good advantage of his strengths. Hyjinx's biggest match
was against George the Animal Steele. Hyjinx is a former HoPWF Cruiserweight champion.

NWL Profile: HyJinx
10. OGB, 6'-0", 207 lbs, Years Pro: 1 - OGB is another top notch
cruiserweight wrestler. What OGB lacks in size, he makes up for in speed and toughness.
OGB started his pro wrestling career as a manager for his actual brothers' tag team,
"The Grungers." OGB's biggest matches have been against the Headbangers and the
Samoan Gangstas. OGB is the current HoPWF Cruiserweight Shootfight champion and he is a
former HoPWF Cruiserweight champion.

11. Jerkface, 5'-11", 218 lbs, Years Pro: 2 - Jerkface is another
excellent showman when he steps in the squared circle, and he is also another
cruiserweight with an amateur wrestling background. Jerkface's biggest match was against
Gillberg. Jerkface is a former HoPWF Tag Team champion.

There are the official rankings for the independent stars listed on the NWL roster. I
consider myself to be a pretty good judge of talent and ability, and I find it very safe
to say that any wrestler whom I have listed in this "Real Deal" is deserving to
be on any "Top" list I have ever read. The NWL takes great pride in holding a
professional wrestling event and our past track record is proof of that. NWL shows have
become synonymous with "sold out crowds." The reason for this is the way we run
a show and the talent we use on those shows. Good talent is the secret behind running a
succesful league. You need properly trained talent who know how to entertain a crowd,
before you can figure out what you're going to do with the talent.
Fans today are very smart. If a wrestler
doesn't have the required skill or ability, a promoter can no longer strap a title belt
around his waist and convince the fans that he is a good wrestler. Today, fans have
learned to believe what they see, and they want to see what they pay for.
Have a nice day!
